No, this isn't a post about how much I love puppies (which, like 99% of the population, is A LOT) this is a post about my dear friend and unofficial mentor, Caz Little, the founder of the incredible mens styling business Dashing Hounds.
After meeting Caz on the dreamy fields of Meredith one December afternoon, she then re-appeared months later at the front of my CAD drawing class as my tutor for that subject! What are the chances?! (well, actually pretty high considering the size of the Melbourne fashion industry, but still...)
Our paths became more intertwined when I came up with the idea for The Clothing Cleanse and asked Caz if I could take her for lunch, to pick that genius brain of hers to find out how on earth one starts a styling business.
All I had genuinely expected was that single lunch but what I got was more support, encouragement and inspiration than I could have ever asked for. Caz took me under her wing, so to speak, and invited me to a weekly breakfast meeting she held with her friend Sarah Anderson; a photographer (who actually turned out to be my very first client!) and Stacey Bennett a graphic designer. Our little group grew, and soon Christina Canters of The C Method and Marita Davies a children's author & freelance producer joined us. Through Caz I had met a group of incredibly talented, hard working and inspiring women. Score!
As if that wasn't enough, Caz then put me forward for a freelance stylist role at Channel 9, which meant that I had the opportunity to work alongside her until she departed for The Big Apple last year. This role has given me a wealth of experience and knowledge, as I've truly learnt from the best of the best as the small but dynamic team I still work with today are literally second to none.
If there is one word I could use to describe Caz's work ethic it is HUSTLE (I think thats an adjective?!). Never have I seen someone with the energy, drive and stamina she embodies. If I can muster up even just half of this then I think I'll do ok.
